Steel Erection Services from Think Industrial Services.
Structural Steelwork Delivered. By People Who Know What They’re Doing.

Steel Erection Services
Think Industrial Services delivers structural steel erection for commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects across the UK.
Our teams operate conventionally from scaffolding, MEWPs and crane-assisted platforms, and where the programme or access demands it, we deploy our IRATA-certified rope access operatives to reduce cost and cut time from the build.
What sets us apart is simple: our steel erectors are qualified. Our team hold the ECITB Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction. Lifting, Positioning and Installing Structures, Plant and Equipment (Erecting Pathway).
That’s the recognised industry standard for structural steelwork installation, and it’s not a quick sign-off. It covers lifting operations, structural positioning, safe systems of work and the full range of practical and technical competencies that complex steel projects demand.
We work directly for principal contractors, developers and specialist subcontractors, integrating into live construction programmes and taking full responsibility for our scope from lift plan to final bolted a
What We Offer
We erect structural steelwork for commercial and industrial projects across the UK, delivering primary frames, secondary steel and high-level installation via conventional access methods and IRATA-certified rope access teams.

Primary Structural Steel Erection
From single-storey industrial frames to multi-level commercial structures, we erect primary steelwork to engineer’s specification and construction drawings. Our teams work from crane-assisted installations, MEWPs and scaffold platforms as standard, with full lift plans, rigging schedules and method statements produced before any steel leaves the ground. We take responsibility for the structural sequence, connection alignment and final torque sign-off, providing a fully documented handover package at completion.

Secondary Steelwork and Connections
Purlins, rails, bracing, staircases, mezzanines and all secondary steel elements are within our scope. Secondary steel often requires precise positioning at height and can be time-critical on a construction programme our teams are experienced in working efficiently around other trades, maintaining output without compromising the quality of connections or the safety of the working environment.

Rope Access Steel Erection
For high-level steel installation where conventional access is impractical, too slow or prohibitively expensive, our IRATA-certified operatives combine rope access technique with ECITB-qualified steel erection skill. This is a genuinely specialist capability not all rope access contractors can safely erect structural steelwork, and not all steel erectors can work from ropes. Our team does both, to the highest qualification standard in both disciplines. It removes the need for expensive scaffold or crane platform erection, cuts programme time and keeps the structure moving.

Structural Alterations and Remedial Steelwork
Existing structures often require new openings, additional support elements, strengthening works or the installation of new steel into constrained and occupied environments. We carry out structural alteration and remedial steelwork with full method statement and risk assessment support, working carefully around live operations and existing building fabric. Our ECITB-qualified erectors understand the engineering intent behind each task, not just the physical installation.

Lifting, Rigging and Cranage Support
Steel erection is a lifting discipline as much as a construction one. Our teams are experienced in planning and executing crane lifts for structural steelwork, working with appointed persons and crane operators to ensure every lift is planned, briefed and carried out safely. We produce lift plans to BS 7121, manage rigging and slinging, and supervise the load throughout the lift. For complex or confined lifts, our rope access capability provides additional control at the point of connection.

Fire Protection Application to Structural Steel
Newly erected structural steelwork frequently requires intumescent or spray-applied fire protection before the building envelope closes. We apply fire protection coatings to our own erected steelwork and as a standalone service to steel erected by others, ensuring the fire resistance period is met, dry film thickness is correctly achieved and full application records are provided at handover. This single-source capability between erection and protection simplifies the programme and removes interfaces.
