Permanent Access Systems from Think Industrial Services.

Built In. Built Right. Built to Last.

Permanent Access Systems

Permanent access systems are the infrastructure behind every safe maintenance programme.

Think Industrial Services designs, supplies and installs fixed access solutions . From rooftop walkways and gantry systems to fixed ladders and plant access platforms, built to last the life of the asset and compliant from day one.

We work with developers, main contractors and building owners to specify permanent access solutions at the right point in the construction programme, ensuring they’re installed correctly, certified and handed over with full documentation.

What We Offer

We design, install and certify permanent access systems that keep your people safe and your assets maintainable for the long term.

Fixed Access Ladders & Caged Ladder Systems

We deliver professional surface preparation and coating application at height, using rope access to reach even the most challenging structures. Our teams are trained in abrasive blasting, chemical treatments and specialist coatings, ensuring surfaces are properly prepared and protected to the highest industry standards.

Roof Walkways & Designated Maintenance Routes

Safe, clearly defined maintenance routes protect both your operatives and your roof surface. We install non-slip roof walkways and designated access routes across flat, pitched and curved roof systems, ensuring your maintenance teams can move safely and efficiently without risk of damage to the building fabric beneath.

Gantry Platforms & Access Bridges

Where routine access is needed above ground level, a well-designed gantry or access bridge makes all the difference. We fabricate and install bespoke gantry platforms and bridging solutions that give your teams permanent, safe access to equipment, structures and plant. Reducing reliance on temporary access methods and improving operational efficiency.

Plant Room & Rooftop Equipment Access Solutions

Getting to rooftop plant and machinery safely shouldn’t require a temporary works package every time. We install permanent access solutions around plant rooms, mechanical equipment and rooftop services, ensuring maintenance operatives can reach what they need quickly, safely and in compliance with working at height regulations.

Vertical & Horizontal Lifeline Systems

Delivered in conjunction with our sister company Think Worksafe, we install vertical and horizontal lifeline systems that provide continuous fall protection across complex structures and rooflines. Systems are designed, installed and certified to current standards, giving asset owners confidence that their permanent fall protection infrastructure is fit for purpose and fully compliant.

Anchor Points, Davit Bases & Safety Lines

A robust fall protection strategy starts with correctly specified and installed anchor points. We integrate anchor points, davit bases and safety lines into new and existing structures, working to current EN and BS standards throughout. Every installation is backed by full load calculations, certification and handover documentation as standard.

New Build Installation & Retrofit to Existing Structures

Whether you’re specifying permanent access into a new build or retrofitting to an existing asset, we have the experience to deliver. We work from engineer drawings or develop bespoke solutions on site, coordinating with structural teams and main contractors to ensure access systems are installed correctly, on programme and to specification.

Handover Certification & Inspection Documentation

Every permanent access system we install is handed over with full certification and inspection documentation. From load test records and anchor point certificates to as-built drawings and maintenance schedules, we ensure asset owners have everything they need to demonstrate compliance, manage ongoing inspections and satisfy insurer and regulatory requirements.

F.A.Q’s

Permanent access systems must comply with the Work at Height Regulations 2005, alongside relevant British and European standards including BS EN 516, BS EN 517 and BS 5395 for fixed ladders and walkways. Anchor points and lifeline systems must meet BS EN 795 and BS EN 353 respectively. Every system we install is designed and certified to the applicable standards, with full handover documentation provided to demonstrate compliance.

Yes. We work across new build projects where permanent access is being designed in from the outset, and retrofit installations where access solutions need to be integrated into existing structures. In both cases we work closely with structural engineers, main contractors and asset owners to ensure the system is correctly specified, properly installed and fully certified before handover.

Most permanent access systems, including anchor points, lifelines and fixed ladders, require a formal inspection by a competent person at least every 12 months, in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. Some systems may require more frequent checks depending on usage and environmental conditions. We provide full maintenance schedules and inspection records at handover, and can advise on ongoing inspection requirements for your specific installation.

Every installation is handed over with a complete documentation pack. This typically includes load test certificates, anchor point certification, as-built drawings, a maintenance schedule and any relevant manufacturer declarations. This gives asset owners a clear compliance record from day one and ensures the information needed for future inspections and insurance purposes is properly in place.
